1. A report published by The New York Times shows that President Trump paid just $750 in federal taxes in 2015 and 2016. He also paid exactly $0 in annual federal income taxes at least 10 times since 2000. His sketchy tax-avoidance moves include writing off more than $70,000 worth of hairstyling as a business expense.
2. In the second debate of the season, Maine Senate candidates went head to head in Presque Isle. The debate focused largely on the Supreme Court, COVID-19, and health care. Max Linn’s reaction to the question of how to improve the pandemic was one to cut up masks. Collins said she is opposed to increasing the number of justices on the Supreme Court while Gideon said the Senate should not hold a confirmation vote on nominee Amy Coney Barrett until January.
3. The U.S. Tops 7.1 million covid cases w/ over 205,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 12 additional coronavirus cases and no new deaths on Monday. Maine’s death toll remains 140 with 561 active cases.
4. On Facebook, Sanford police posted the number and email address to a consumer complaint line where people can report businesses that are not adhering to city and state coronavirus mandates. Police Chief Thomas Connolly said officers will give out written warnings first and then repeat offenders could be charged.
