1. The U.S. tops 13.7 million Covid-19 cases with over 270,000 deaths. The Maine CDC reported 20 new deaths and 219 new cases on Tuesday. The total included deaths that occurred over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend but weren’t reported. Maine’s death toll is 214 with 2,398 active cases.

2. Governor Janet Mills is quarantining after an exposure to someone believed likely to have COVID-19. The governor says she feels well, is not symptomatic, and will continue to work remotely.

3. Maine Senators Susan Collins and Angus King are among a group of lawmakers proposing a $900 billion emergency relief package. One item not on the list is another round of $1,200 stimulus checks, but Collins says it’s not out of the question.

4. The Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and several businesses are suing the city of Portland claiming that voters did not have the authority to propose and enact an emergency minimum wage provision. The Chamber said it was filing a lawsuit to seek clarity on when that provision would take effect. The city has said the emergency wage does not take effect until January 2022, while People First Portland, said the emergency wage is meant to take effect this month.

5. Dr. Anthony Fauci is hopeful that football stadiums could be full by next September. When asked if we could expect stadiums at capacity for the 2021 football season, Fauci said, “Oh, that’s possible. I think that’s possible.” The qualifier is if people get the COVID vaccine.
