1. DMX sadly passed away on Friday at the age of 50. Swizz Beatz wrote on Instagram, “I’m truly beyond devastated !!!!!! But I’m so happy my brother is no longer in pain. I watched him take everyone’s pain and make it his own. I send my love and support to his entire family. My brother, we will never let them forget your name, and you will live forever F.A.M.E. Long live King DMX the great a.k.a. my brother 4 Life.” (ROLLING STONE)

2. The U.S. tops 31.1 million covid-19 cases with more than 562,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new death and 215 new cases on Sunday keeping Maine’s death toll at 750 with 75 Mainers currently hospitalized. More than 28% of Mainers have been fully vaccinated. (WMTW)

3. Starting today the state will begin operating a mobile COVID-19 vaccine unit to help administer vaccines to rural and underserved parts of Maine. The first location for the unit will be at the Oxford Casino in Oxford. (WMTW)

4. The University of Maine Men’s Hockey Coach Red Gendron died Friday. Gendron was playing golf Friday at Penobscot Valley in Bangor. At some point during the round, Gendron experienced a medical condition and passed away. He coached the Black Bears since 2013. He was 63. (WGME)

5. Organizers of the Portland Pops July 4th celebration said the event is canceled again this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The city is considering the possibility of still having a fireworks display. (WGME)
