1. Hundreds of thousands of Louisianans sweltered in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida on Tuesday with no electricity, no tap water, precious little gasoline and no clear idea of when things might improve. The New Orleans Mayor said she expects some electricity to return to the city this evening.
2. Maine health officials Tuesday reported 475 new cases of COVID-19 for the three-day period from Saturday through Monday. Under U.S. CDC guidelines, masks are now recommended in all Maine counties for public indoor settings regardless of vaccination status.

5. Starting today you can see the largest Mars rock on earth on public display in Bethel at the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum. It weighs 32 pounds and came to Earth when an asteroid hit Mars, which sent chunks of the planet flying into space.
