1. The FBI says a body found yesterday in a Florida nature preserve is in fact Brian Laundrie. Investigators used dental records to confirm his identity. Laundrie has been missing since becoming a suspect in the death of his girlfriend Gabbby Petito. (CNN)
2. School districts across Maine are reportedly trying to keep up with food shortages. Earlier in the week Falmouth schools posted that they are experiencing supply chain issues like many neighboring schools. These shortages come as districts across the nation are now providing free meals under a pandemic-related change. (WGME)
3. A 20 year old Tufts student died yesterday after choking to death during a hotdog eating contest. The student was at an off-campus fundraiser when it happened. (NEWS WEEK)
4. Starting Monday, Oct. 25, York Hospital, at the Wells location, will temporarily not offer emergency services, citing staffing shortages as the reason. York Hospital President and said the shortages are not due to Maine’s vaccine mandate for health care workers. (NEWS CENTER)
5. Professional hockey returns to Portland tonight when the Maine Mariners face off against the Worcester Railers. It will be the Mariners first home game in nearly 600 days, after the past season was cancelled due to the pandemic. New head coach Ben Guite is a former UMaine Black Bear player and assistant coach.
