1. The number of COVID-19 patients in Maine’s intensive care units reached a new high Tuesday. A total of 378 people were hospitalized with the disease statewide, with a record 123 in critical care and 60 on ventilators.
2. Today marks exactly one year since the first Maine resident got her first dose of a coronavirus vaccine. Over 2 million doses of the COVID vaccines have been given in Maine.
3. Forever chemicals were found in chicken eggs in Fairfield. In the area PFAS have already been found in milk from local dairy cows, in well water and in deer meat. The state has already begun to test for the chemicals in additional communities, which include Westbrook, Windham, Gorham, Auburn and Skowhegan.
4. Maine hunters this season killed the most deer since 1968. Hunters killed 38,889 deer since September. An abundant deer population and plenty of hunters were factors.
5. Stephen Curry is the new 3-point king of the NBA. He became the all-time leader in 3-pointers Tuesday night against the Knicks, passing Hall of Famer Ray Allen by knocking down the 2,974th 3-pointer of his career. The 33-year-old Curry is an early favorite to win his third career MVP award this season.
