1. Maine health officials are urging Mainers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 or get their booster shot as hospitalizations hit another record high. 380 people were in Maine hospitals with the virus. Of those, 122 were in the ICU and 60 were on ventilators.
2. The Portland Jetport is offering free rapid PCR COVID-19 tests for everyone, regardless of if they are traveling. The testing site will operate every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no proof of insurance required.
3. Brunswick High filed an appeal with the MPA to allow their varsity football team to compete in 2022. After its 2021 season was canceled midseason amid a hazing investigation, Brunswick’s varsity football program faces a two-year ban from competition. The MPA will hear the appeal during the third week of January.
4. CMP ranked dead last in the nation for electric utility residential customer satisfaction, according to a study by J.D. Power. CMP officials point out that many of the customers surveyed had heard about the CMP brand as the result of the multimillion dollar advertising campaign opponents of the transmission corridor waged against the project.
