1. More members of the Maine National Guard have now arrived at 16 health care facilities across the state as hospitalization numbers remain high. A total of 169 Guard members were deployed this week … joining the 202 members who have already been supporting the COVID-19 response in Maine.
2. The Brunswick High School football team will be allowed to play this fall after successfully appealing their suspension. Brunswick High School will now be searching for a new varsity football coach for the fall season.
3. Steve Shaw has withdrawn from the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame a week after he and his broadcast partner were fired by a Houlton radio station for making derogatory comments about girls’ basketball players during a livestream broadcast.
4. M&M’s iconic characters have gotten a modern makeover. The redesign is focused on creating a sense of belonging and community, as well as spotlighting the character’s “personalities, rather than their gender.” The most notable change, the green M&M will exchange the white heeled go-go boots she was given in 1997 for “cool, laid-back sneakers to reflect her effortless confidence.”
