1. U.S. Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona is visiting RSU 21 in Kennebunk and Wells today. He’s set to discuss how federal funding can help solve school bus driver shortages in Maine.
2. The Maine CDC said 90 patients were in hospitals statewide with the coronavirus. That’s a big improvement from the height of the omicron surge. On Jan. 13 there were 436 patients hospitalized with the virus in Maine.
3. Gas prices are starting to fall in Maine. An all-time high was reached on March 10 with an average of $4.31 per gallon. As of today, that was down to $4.09. A year ago, the average in Maine was $2.79 per gallon.
4. Scottie Scheffler won the Masters on Sunday to validate his new status as the best player in golf. 2022 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, 2022 Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford, and 2020 World Series-winning pitcher Clayton Kershaw all attended Highland Park High School in Texas.
