1. The AP has called the Republican Primary in Maine’s Second District for former Representative Bruce Poliquin. He will now face Democratic incumbent Representative Jared Golden, who defeated Poliquin in 2020.
2. Cumberland County’s DA Jonathan Sahrbeck conceded to Kennebec County Assistant DA and Brunswick native Jackie Sartoris in the Democratic primary for Cumberland County District Attorney. The race attracted national money, with an out-of-state PAC largely funded by multi-billionaire George Soros throwing in $350,000 to support Sartoris.
3.Sen. Bernie Sanders told CNN he will not challenge President Biden in the 2024 Democratic primaries. “I think Biden will probably run again, and if he runs again, I will support him,” Sanders said. The White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted Monday, “To be clear, as the President has said repeatedly, he plans to run in 2024.
4. Thornton Academy held off South Portland 8-1 to win the Class A South Baseball Championship. They face Bangor in the state championship Saturday. The Biddeford Tigers shutout top seeded Windham Tuesday night to win the Class A South Softball Championship. They’ll meet Messalonskee on Saturday.
