1. The Portland Housing Authority says power has finally been fully restored at Franklin Towers. The announcement came almost 4 weeks after the electrical system for floors 7 through 16 was damaged. The outage impacted more than 100 apartments, forcing residents to run extension cords to outlets in the hallways, where there was power, to keep refrigerators running.

2. UMaine has closed Hancock Hall and its dining hall, Wells Central, due to lower enrollment and a need for dining cooks. The smaller on-campus population coincides with the lowest enrollment UMaine has seen in years, matching a national trend of fewer students enrolling in college during the COVID-19 pandemic.

3. The Portland Sea Dogs’ season is over after a walk-off loss to the Somerset Patriots Thursday night. Somerset sweeps the Northeast Division Championship Series two games to none.

4. Thompson’s Point announced rink operations will be suspended this upcoming winter season and instead they will be starting development at The Depot Pavilion. Construction at the pavilion will mean a year-round food and beverage outlet as well as site enhancements and a seasonal dock with access to the Fore River.

5. Fall is here, and the holidays are right around the corner. Target plans to hire 100,000 workers to take on the increased demand of the holiday season. Wages range between $15 and $24 per hour.
