1. Ken Kincer, who owned Affordable Cremation Solution in Lewiston, let rotting bodies pile up in the unrefrigerated basement. According to testimony, his only response to his staff was to open the windows. Marielle Bischoff-Wurstle sued Kincer on behalf of her father, who died in May 2021. A jury awarded her $5.5 million Friday. This was the first of at least six cases against Kincer.
2. Stefan Kuenzel, who owns businesses in Maine and Fort Myers Beach, organized a drive in Kennebunkport to fill a 24-foot cargo trailer with donations, which he will drive to Florida. Items on the trailer include food, water, clothes, blankets and toys for the kids stuck in shelters. Needed supplies include batteries, phone chargers and gas cans. Updates on “Stuff the trailer” will be posted on his business Facebook page, facebook.com/KayakExcursions.

4. Over 3500 runners took to the streets on Sunday for the 30th Maine Marathon. Ryan Eiler of Boston set a record with a time of two hours, 19 minutes, and 19 seconds.
5. The Fryeburg Fair kicked off on Sunday. Tens of thousands of people filled the fairgrounds. The fair runs through October 9.
