- Maine’s Catholic bishop denounced Gov. Mills’ new proposal to expand abortion access, calling the policies “radical and extreme.” Abortion is a “deeply personal issue” involving a decision made by a woman and her doctor, Mills spokesperson responded. (BDN)
- Andrew Belisle, a former Kennebunk police officer is accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old between June of 2019 and October of 2020. He retired from the Kennebunk Police Department as a sergeant in April 2020. Belisle pleaded not guilty. (WGME)
- City councilors voted unanimously to renew the liquor license for Pat’s Pizza in the Old Port. The hearing was only the second time since 2014 that the police department has recommended not renewing a liquor license. (PH)
- Maine has seen a spike in overdoses since the first of the year. Police say this most likely means there is a “deadly batch” that could be out in the community. (WGME)
- Party City filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Party City blames slow sales, inventory issues, and a helium shortage for its money issues. There are 800 Party City locations nationwide. There has been no announcement about store closures. (NBC)
