1. More sexual abuse survivors are suing the Maine Catholic Diocese. A civil complaint details claims from six additional victims of abuse allegedly committed by Father Lawrence Sabatino from 1958 to 1967. Lawsuits now total 20 against the Diocese by law firm Berman and Simmons. (WMTW)
2. The Biden administration is backing a new bill that would either ban or force the sale of TikTok. The president wants this bill to pass quickly, giving him the ability to force the sale of foreign-owned technologies, applications, software or e-commerce platforms if they present a national security threat to US users. 3. UMass officials are warning students to stop following the TikTok trend of drinking BORGS (black out rage gallons). A typical BORG usually has about 17 shots of alcohol. 28 ambulances were called in one weekend to off-campus parties around UMass. (Fox)
4. New Hampshire reversed its decision and alcohol sales will be allowed on the Downeaster, for now. The Downeaster will be given a temporary exemption until NH creates an official law that would give an exemption for passenger trains. (PH)
5. Carnaval Maine kicked off its third season yesterday with its “Fire and Ice Gala.” The festival provides music, fireworks, and food through the weekend in the DiMillo’s parking lot on the waterfront. (NCM)
