1. At least 25 people were killed and dozens of others were injured in Mississippi as a massive tornado ripped through several towns on its hour-long path.  President Joe Biden issued an emergency declaration for Mississippi early Sunday. (WMTW)

2. Portland is planning to reopen the Expo Center as a temporary emergency shelter for asylum seekers as soon as April 10.  Portland has welcomed more than 780 asylum seekers since Jan. 1 – a wave that is much larger than the one reported in 2019. (PH)

3. One year after a massive fire destroyed the Penobscot McCrum potato processing plant in Waldo County, the owners announced they will not rebuild in Belfast. Instead they decided to expand manufacturing at their facility in Washburn. (WMTW)

4. Men’s college basketball final four is set: Connecticut, Florida Atlantic, Miami, and San Diego State will play in Houston this weekend. UConn is the only school of the four to have ever been to a final four.  (ESPN)

5. Sugarhouses across Maine opened their doors to thousands Sunday for the 40th annual Maine Maple Sunday.  Maine is the third largest syrup producer in the country with over 575,000 gallons produced a year. (WMTW)
