1. Former U.S. President George W. Bush, a Republican, does not plan to endorse or publicly voice how he or his wife, former First Lady Laura Bush, will vote in the November presidential election. In the 2016 election, Bush voted straight Republican on the ticket but left the presidential line empty — opting not to vote for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. The announcement came a day after Bush’s vice president, Dick Cheney, announced that he would cross party lines and vote for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.The first debate between Vice President Harris and former reality TV show host Donald Trump will be on tonight. 2. An apartment building in Auburn, one of two being built next to each other, has been destroyed by a massive fire that started late Sunday night. The Auburn Fire Department said the blaze went to a fourth alarm, and a total of 13 departments and more than 100 first responders either responded directly to the scene on Mount Auburn Avenue or provided coverage in the city. 4. Apple has announced its brand new items for the fall. Leading the way are the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. The latest iPhone adds a camera button to speed up picture taking, a smarter version of Siri, a faster processor, and new colors. The Pro models get upgraded screens and battery life. Apple also announced the Apple Watch 10, which features sleep apnea tracking, a faster charging battery, and the ability to go 20 feet underwater. Apple also unveiled AirPods 4.
