1. On Monday, Hurricane Milton reached the category five level. The storm intensified quickly, with maximum sustained winds of 160 mph in the Gulf of Mexico. Milton is approaching Florida. The hurricane is expected to hit near the Tampa area on Wednesday. Forecasters expect Milton to come ashore as a category three or four hurricane. The storm will cross central Florida and will impact part of the state that is still recovering from Hurricane Helene. (CNN)

2. Ogunquit Police say no one was injured after a report of shots being fired closed part of Route 1 on Monday morning. Police found used fireworks casings and spent ammunition outside the hotel, and either might have been responsible for the noise. (PH)

3. Portland city council voted on Monday to move forward with a plan to make State Street and High Street two-way streets again. Councilors described Monday’s vote as an approval of the conceptual phase with a planning phase coming next. (WGME)

4. Slab Sicilian Street Food announced Monday that after 10 years in business it will close at the end of the week. Slab will continue to sell its take-and-bake, rising-crust frozen pizza. (PH)

5. Single plays for Mega Millions will soon go up from $2 to $5. Mega Millions said the odds of winning would get better, there would be bigger and more frequent payouts, and there would be a new built-in multiplier. The changes are expected to take place starting in April 2025. (TH)
