1. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis urged residents in evacuation zones up and down the coast to flee Tuesday, saying “time is running out”. 2. Former major league pitcher Luis Tiant, a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame, has died at the age of 83. A resident of Wells, Maine, Tiant played eight of his 19 major league seasons with the Red Sox from 1971 through 1978. “El Tiante” won 20 or more games three times over his eight-year tenure with the Red Sox. Donald Trump repeatedly referred to Governor Janet Mills as “he” during a phone call to supporters Monday night.Trump referred to Mills as “he” or “him” at least six times in that call and made false statements as well. Mills responded on X saying “He better get used to recognizing women. He’s about to get beat by one.” (WGME)
4. PortTIX now has a storefront on Congress Street. The local box office moved just around the corner from its former location in the lobby of Merrill Auditorium. The move reflects a growing group of partners and a desire to be more accessible to the general public. 5. Maine’s first Cheech & Chong Dispensoria opens at 58 Exchange Street Thursday in partnership with East Coast Gold Inc., a Bangor-based cannabis company.
