Award-winning Allagash Brewing Company is raising a glass to the beautiful game with the release of Kickabout, a brand new beer brewed in partnership with Portland’s debut professional soccer club, the Hearts of Pine. As the team’s Official Brewery Partner, Allagash is celebrating the club’s inaugural season with a refreshing 5.0% ABV lager, made for summer nights, team chants, and unforgettable matches at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
Named by Hearts of Pine Founder Gabe Hoffman-Johnson, Kickabout draws inspiration from a casual soccer term used to describe an informal game—or simply kicking a ball around with friends. True to its name, the beer is approachable and crisp, brewed with a touch of wheat for body and citrus notes, and lightly dry-hopped for a flavorful finish.
The celebration begins Thursday, May 2nd, from 5–8 PM at the Allagash Tasting Room in Portland, where fans can be the first to try Kickabout. The event will feature the Dirigo Union supporters group teaching chants, cold beer on draft, and 4-packs ready to take home—just in time for the Hearts’ highly anticipated home opener on May 4th.
Whether you’re cheering in the stands or watching with friends, Kickabout will be available at Fitzpatrick Stadium during all home matches and at the Allagash Tasting Room throughout the season!
