If you’ve ever dreamed of taking your writing to the next level, this might be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
I recently sat down with Maine-based author and creative Shanna McNair, founder of The Writer’s Hotel, to talk about her immersive “Mini MFA” program. With the application deadline set for April 16th, the timing couldn’t be more important!
The Writer’s Hotel isn’t your typical writing workshop. It’s a hybrid, all-genre experience designed to help writers move their work forward in a meaningful way, from refining their craft to preparing for publication.
What makes the program stand out is how much happens before you even arrive. Participants receive an in-depth “Team Reading,” where professional editors provide extensive feedback on their manuscript, followed by a one-on-one strategy session to help shape next steps.
From there, writers gather June 10th-16th at Sebasco Harbor Resort in Phippsburg for a fully immersive experience. The week includes intimate, small-group workshops, genre-specific craft sessions, faculty readings, open mics, and opportunities to connect with fellow writers in a collaborative, supportive environment. And it doesn’t end when the week is over; writers also have the opportunity to participate in virtual agent pitching sessions, helping bridge the gap between writing and getting published!
Beyond The Writer’s Hotel, Shanna is a multi-disciplinary artist, award-winning journalist, and the founder of High Frequency Press and The New Guard literary review. Her debut novel, Soul Retrieval, an illustrated, full-color work, earned recognition as a BookLife Editor’s Pick and a Quarter Finalist for the BookLife Prize. She also shared insight into her work as a publisher, supporting other writers through High Frequency Press and helping bring new voices to life!
If writing is something you’ve been thinking about, consider this your sign. Listen to our interview below to learn more!
