Portland’s waterfront came alive this past weekend as the very first Back Cove Fest brought two unforgettable days of music, art, and community to Maine’s biggest city!
The festival was designed to be more than just a concert and it delivered! With stunning views of Back Cove as the backdrop, the event featured national headliners like Jack White, Lord Huron, The Roots, and St. Paul & The Broken Bones, alongside an impressive lineup of local talent, food trucks, and art vendors. Families sprawled out on blankets, kids danced barefoot in the grass, and music lovers soaked up the sunshine (and a few much-needed shady spots).
The weekend’s lineup offered something for every music fan! Portland rock favorites Weakened Friends gave fans a taste of their upcoming album Feels Like Hell and talked about the inspiration behind their single Tough Luck (Bleed Me Out).
The Oshima Brothers charmed the crowd with their signature harmonies, debuting new music and sharing the heartfelt story behind their music video for You’re My Taste in Music.
Eliza McLamb captivated the audience with her vulnerability and strength, opening up about the inspiration for her single Like The Boys and her upcoming record Good Story.
Sibling duo Crowe Boys won hearts with their harmonies and their personal philosophy on embracing life’s journey!
Ripe brought their signature upbeat energy, sharing the story behind their new single Cheap Seats.
One of the most talked-about sets came from St. Paul & The Broken Bones, whose blend of gospel, rock, and funk had the crowd dancing well into the night. They reflected on how the band came together and developed their one-of-a-kind sound.
The festival also put a spotlight on Maine’s own talent, with performances from the Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) both days. Young local musicians took the stage and proved that the future of Maine’s music scene is in good hands.
While the music was the main draw, Back Cove Fest also celebrated the local community. Art vendors, food trucks, and small businesses gave the festival grounds a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, creating a true taste of Portland culture. From big-name acts to homegrown talent, Back Cove Fest’s debut felt like “the way life should be” — and we can’t wait to see it return next summer!
