This coming Sunday, I have the honor of being a part of the 1st annual hockey and free skate event for the Jared Pelletier Memorial Foundation taking place at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn! Lots will be taking place at this incredible community event as we honor the life of Jared Pelletier – among the activities this day will be shinny hockey pickup games to start the event, a family free skate in which I will be DJing, a raffle with $1,300 in gift certificates from Maine businesses and a separate raffle for a fully paid summer camp at The Mental Goalie School, and more! You can check out a full schedule of the day below.
The JP Memorial Foundation Mission:
“In loving memory of Jared Pelletier, a lifelong athlete and team leader, our mission is to create community events with fundraising efforts to help benefit Maine’s athletic youth. All proceeds go directly towards sports equipment for families in need, awards/scholarships for high performing athletes, and youth camp enrollment. The Jared Pelletier Memorial Foundation’s first fundraiser event will take place Sunday December 22nd in the form of a hockey game and family free skate at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, ME, which kindly donated the ice time for the event. Our goal is to raise $10,000 before Christmas to put towards our first round of initiatives. Although it’s unimaginably tragic losing our beloved Jared at only 29 from cancer, we hope this foundation’s efforts create a legacy to celebrate and honor his life for many years to come.”
The foundation was started by Jared’s childhood friends Nate Winter, Shawn O’Connell, and his immediate family Carol, Bill, and Brendan Pelletier.
As of 12/16, the JP Memorial Foundation had fundraised $10,295.00 in total donations between their GoFundMe, Raffle Donations, & Sponsors. To learn more about event you can find everything you need to know on their website, FB event page, and Instagram. Come on out this Sunday and support a great cause with the community!
