In today’s If You Can Hear Her, You Can Be Her interview, I spoke with Meg Shorette, a dynamic force in Maine’s music and events community!
Originally from Skowhegan, Meg has built a career that spans multiple roles across the state’s creative and entertainment industries. She is involved with major events like the former Kahbang Music and Art Festival and the All Roads Festival, helping bring artists and audiences together through live music experiences. Meg also recently stepped into a another role as the talent buyer for Live at Madrid’s in Portland, where she helps curate the venue’s lineup of live performances!
Her career path hasn’t been traditional. Meg shared how she originally worked in education before transitioning into bartending, which unexpectedly opened the door to opportunities in event management and the local music scene.
In addition to her work in festivals and live music, Meg is also involved with St. Joseph’s College, where she directs events and manages the school’s wedding venue. She has also launched her own wedding planning business, Tiny Laser Maine!
Reflecting on her journey, Meg emphasized the importance of building strong systems, staying organized, and trusting yourself as you grow in your career.
