Maine’s own Cooper Flagg is heading to Durham, NC next fall to play basketball for Duke University. The Newport native and top high school basketball prospect in the country made the announcement Monday morning, sharing an IG post with “The Basketball Bible,” SLAM. Flagg has been picked by experts to go #1 in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Mainers will have a chance to see Flagg play live before he suits of for the Blue Devils. Montverde Academy will be play at the Cross Insurance Arena on January 5th against South Shore High School of Brooklyn, NY. The following day they’ll face off against CATS Academy Boston of Braintree, MA at the Portland Expo.
