Today, Bruce King, Executive Director of Maine Boys to Men, joined me in studio to talk about the powerful work his organization is doing to shape a healthier, more compassionate generation of young men!
Their flagship initiative, the RSVP (Reducing Sex and Violence Program), is designed for middle and high school students. It encourages expansive masculinity, emotional intelligence, and deeper understanding of consent and healthy relationships. The program directly addresses a growing crisis of loneliness and vulnerability among young men—offering a space where empathy and open dialogue are not only welcomed but essential.
In addition to youth programming, Maine Boys to Men provides training for adults who work with young people, helping to create more supportive environments across schools and communities.
Founded nearly three decades ago, the organization has evolved from its roots as a conference-based model to hands-on programming that reaches students where they are. And coming soon, they’re hosting an online panel discussion inspired by the Netflix series Adolescence to tackle how media and the internet are shaping boys’ understanding of masculinity.
