I got to catch up with Sanford Mainers players TJ Curley, Jason Libby, and Nic Melton to hear what it’s like playing summer ball in the heart of Maine!
TJ Curley, a hometown player from Sanford and Stonehill College, shared how meaningful it is to take the field in front of his own community at Goodall Park. Jason Libby, repping UMaine and his hometown of Bangor, says there’s something special about playing for a Maine-based team and that Goodall Park is one-of-a-kind. Meanwhile, Nic Melton, who came all the way from New London, North Carolina and plays for UNC Asheville, said that while the accent’s different, Sanford reminds him a lot of home.
All three players highlighted the energy at Goodall Park, where crowds of up to 1,000 fans bring the atmosphere to life. With their final home game of the season coming up next Wednesday, the Mainers are hoping to ride a wave of playoff momentum. The night will feature food trucks, fan fun, and that signature small-town baseball magic!
You can follow the team on social media or download their app to keep up with the action. Don’t miss your chance to catch them at Goodall Park before the season wraps!
