In the wake of the tragedy that struck Lewiston last week, the town, surrounding communities, and all of Maine seek a return to normalcy as the healing process is underway. A long journey it will be, and many from afar have been sending their well wishes, love, and overwhelming support. The Lewiston High School Blue Devils had their first football game since the tragedy, and it was the classic Battle of the Bridge game against the rival Red Eddies of Edward Little (Auburn) High School. While they might be rivals on the field and on the court, the two communities are very tight knit.
Ahead of the big game they received some encouraging words and shout outs from some high profile celebrities – Will Ferrell sent a heartfelt and goofy (in typical Ferrell fashion) message, Patriots owner Robert Kraft and quarterback Mac Jones shared their support, and even the legend Rob Gronkowski himself got in on the action.
A special thank you to Will Ferrell for thinking of our Twin City Community … a smile & laugh is so good for us today! And yeah, there is a big football game tonight to bring us together! pic.twitter.com/VhA7I5vRI1

This was all capped off by a great performance of the National Anthem by the legendary James Taylor. The Blue Devils would go on to defeat Edward Little, 34-18.
