Maine could have a new state flag in the near future, but it’s up to you!
The current state flag is blue with the Maine state seal. Next year, Mainers will be able to vote to change it back to the white flag with a blue star and a green pine tree.
The simpler design was actually the original Maine state flag until 1909. You’ve definitely seen it as a bumper sticker, on hats, hoodies, etc. The Transportation Committee of Maine is even considering replacing the chickadee license plate with the retro design.
Big changes potentially coming…I’m here for it! The vote will take place in November 2024.
