1. The House passed the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill promising $1,400 checks for many, an extension in $300 a week jobless benefits through September, and a child tax credit of up to $3,600 for one year. You could see the cash in your account by next week if you qualify. A lone Democrat in the House voted against it, Maine Congressman Jared Golden. (AP)

2. The U.S. tops 29.1 million covid-19 cases with more than 529,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 195 new cases on Tuesday keeping Maine’s death toll at 723 with 77 Mainers currently hospitalized. Over 22% of Mainers have received at least the first dose of the Covid-vaccine. Tomorrow marks one year since the first case of coronavirus was reported in Maine. (WMTW)

3. The University of Maine system announced that it plans on welcoming students back for a “traditional, in-person college experience” at the start of the fall semester. This includes more in person courses and activities, more students in residence halls and fewer restrictions on facilities.

4. SeaWeed Co. will open its doors in Portland on Friday, as the first recreational marijuana shop to operate in Maine’s largest city. Grass Roots Marijuana Shop also received local and state license approval on Wednesday but does not plan to open the shop until sometime late next week. (PRESS HERALD)

5. National Promposal Day – In 2016, Men’s Wearhouse founded National Promposal Day on March 11th to inspire high school students to create the ultimate promposal. (NATIONAL DAY)
