1. The U.S. tops 8.2 million Coronavirus cases w/ over 220,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 23 additional cases on Monday. The statewide death toll is 146 w/ 641 active cases. In one of the biggest outbreaks in Maine yet, 32 coronavirus cases have been linked to Brooks Pentecostal Church in rural Maine. (WMTW)
2. The Portland City Council Monday extended the city’s emergency proclamation and outdoor dining in the Old Port. Restaurants and retailers can stay open for outdoor dining and sidewalk service through January 4. Under this plan, all of these roads will reopen to traffic and parking except Dana Street from Fore to Wharf Streets and Wharf Street from Union to Dana Streets. (WGME)
3. At a rally in Hermon yesterday Vice President Mike Pence told Trump supporters that Northern Maine voted for Donald Trump four years ago, and they will do it again this time. He said “The road to the White House goes through northern Maine.” (WGME)
4. “Vote Sara Gideon DEFUND THE POLICE” signs have been popping up. If you look closely, you’ll see “PAID FOR BY THE MAINE REPUBLICAN PARTY” at the bottom of every sign. Gideon said defunding police is not something she supports. “I just want to be clear, I do not want to defund the police. I do want to make changes that ensure that people of color do not continue to be brutalized or killed,” Gideon said at the debate. (NEWS CENTER)
5. Since September, York County has been in the yellow designation regarding COVID-19, which meant no high school sports, but on Friday, York County finally went green. Yesterday, for the first time this season, York County student athletes could once again hit the playing field. York County schools are trying to schedule as many regional games before the season ends on November 14. (WGME)
