1. On Friday, Jacob Blake gave his first public comments since being shot in the back seven times last month. “Your life… can be taken from you like this, man… Every 24 hours, it’s pain, it’s nothing but pain.” he says in the video.
2. The U.S. tops 6.3 million coronavirus cases with over 189,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 19 new cases on Monday. No new deaths have been reported since Friday. Maine’s death toll is 134 w/ 491 active cases.
3. Today marks the first day of school for many districts in Maine including South Portland, Wells, Ogunquit, Saco, Biddeford and Augusta to name a few. RSU 57 in Waterboro is delaying the start of school until Sept. 14 after a person associated with the transportation department tested positive for coronavirus.
4. All four candidates for U.S. Senate—Sara Gideon, Republican incumbent Sen. Susan Collins, and Independents Lisa Savage and Max Linn—will face off in the first scheduled debate on September 11.
5. The Celtics are back in control of their series with the Raptors. After losing Games 3 and 4, the Celtics bounced back Monday night, dominating Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead. Game 6 in the bubble is tomorrow at 6:30pm
