- Democratic Rep. Jared Golden has declared victory in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District. His Republican challenger Bruce Poliquin has not conceded. A ranked-choice run-off will still take place early next week. (WGME)
- The FBI has seized what appears to be the scalp of an Apache person from an auction house in Fairfield. Investigators are trying to determine if the scalp is authentic. Selling Native American human remains is a federal crime. (WMTW)
- Mechanics’ Hall, a 163-year-old building in Portland, is now listed as a Nationally Significant Landmark Building on the National Register of Historic Places. the new designation will help to draw attention to the building and its urgent preservation needs, as well as open funding opportunities on a federal level.
