1. Hundreds of protesters across the country were arrested over the weekend as demonstrations continued over police violence. DeRay Mckesson, one of the most visible faces of the Black Lives Matter movement – and an alumnus of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine – was among 120 people arrested in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and at least 100 others were detained in St. Paul, Minnesota. 2. Two Portland police officers ran Saturday’s Old Port Half Marathon in full uniform. Officers Brent Abbott and Thomas Kwok finished the 13.1-mile race in about 2 1/2 hours. The officers raised money for K9s On The Front Line, the Amy St. Laurent Foundation/Portland Police R.A.D. Program. (WMTW)
3. The 19th Annual Maine International Film Festival has begun in Waterville. Twenty-three different countries are being represented in nearly 100 films at Maine’s 10-day long International Film Festival. (WCSH)
4. Serena Williams tied the record previously set by German former tennis player Steffi Graff this weekend, by winning her 22nd grand slam title at Wimbledon. Britain’s Andy Murray was the men’s Wimbledon champion for the second time. (CNN)
