1. A naked gunman wearing only a green jacket stormed a Waffle House restaurant in Nashville early Sunday and shot four people to death before a customer rushed him and wrestled his assault rifle away. 29-year-old suspect Travis Reinking is still at large and being searched for by 80 police officers, as well as the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The man who disarmed Reinking in the Waffle House has been identified as 29-year-old James Shaw Jr. “I was completely doing it just to save myself. Me doing that … I did save other people, but I don’t want people to think that I was the Terminator or Superman or anybody like that. I figured if I was going to die, he was gonna have to work for it.” (AP News)
2. Four former presidents joined ambassadors, sports stars and hundreds of other mourners on a gray, rainy Saturday at the private funeral for former first lady Barbara Bush. Seated near the front of the church, in the same pew, were Bill Clinton and Barack Obama along with their wives and current first lady Melania Trump. President Donald Trump isn’t attending to avoid security disruptions and “out of respect for the Bush family and friends attending the service,” according to the White House. He released a statement Saturday saying his “thoughts and prayers” are “with the entire Bush family.” (WGME)
3. Swedish DJ and EDM producer Avicii was found dead on Friday at the age of 28. “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” his rep wrote in a statement. “He was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday afternoon local time, April 20. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.” (Rolling Stone)
4. Actor Verne Troyer, best known for his portrayal of Mini-Me in the Austin Powers film franchise, has died. He was 49. TMZ reports that the actor passed away on Saturday after being taken off life support by his family. “Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh,” a statement posted to Troyer’s social media accounts over the weekend reads. (CNN)
