1. The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Maine increased by nine on Sunday, to 291. That’s still 33 percent lower than the pandemic high. The number of critical care patients is roughly half the record set on Dec. 19.
2. Police are investigating after a 27-year old man was found dead in a driveway in Brunswick Sunday. A pedestrian called just after 8 a.m. to say there was an unresponsive man in the driveway to the Mill Street Canoe Portage.
3. The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in Super Bowl 56. Cooper Kupp won Super Bowl MVP. His go-ahead touchdown catch put L.A. on top for good. Cincinnati had a chance to drive for a game-tying field goal, but L.A.’s Aaron Donald sacked Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow to clinch the championship.The win gives the Rams’ a second Super Bowl title and the team’s first in Los Angeles.
4. The Valentine’s Day bandit has struck again. People in Portland woke up this morning to find red hearts plastered across the city. Every Feb. 14, the bandit puts up paper hearts and heart banners all over the city.
