1. Following the publication of Michael Wolff’s tell-all book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to defend himself from questions over his mental fitness. “Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart,” he tweeted on Saturday. “I went from VERY successful businessman to top T.V. star to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius… and a very stable genius at that!” (NBC News)
2. The National Weather Service says a January thaw is heading our way after most of Maine suffered through a four-day spell of severe weather that brought subzero temperatures, blizzard conditions and more than a foot of snow. James Brown, a meteorologist with the weather service office in Gray, said temperatures could climb into the 40s by late this week and possibly hit 50 degrees Friday in some southern parts of the state. 3. The New Hampshire Lottery says the winning ticket for the $570 million Powerball lottery jackpot was sold at a local convenience store in Merrimack. Reeds Ferry Market, located in southern New Hampshire about 25 miles south of Concord, will receive a $75,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The odds of winning Powerball are one in 292.2 million. (WGME)
4. The New England Patriots await a visit from the Tennessee Titans in the AFC divisional playoffs next weekend. The Titans (10-7) are coming off their first playoff win in 14 seasons. The Patriots (13-3) are fresh off their eighth consecutive first-round bye as they seek their third title in four years. Brady, Belichick and Kraft released a joint statement this weekend dismissing as “flat-out inaccurate” an ESPN report detailing an array of tension in New England. 5. Regulars at Dunkin’ Donuts may begin noticing parts of the menu disappear this week. The Canton-based company began testing a “simplified menu” in a number of markets last summer. Now, beginning today in New England and upstate New York, the reduced menu will be rolled out nationwide. The company expects all stores will feature the new menu by the end of March. Here’s a look at what items are being removed from the menu: Turkey Cheddar Bacon Sandwich, Ham & Cheddar Sandwich, Tuna Salad Sandwich, Chicken Salad Sandwich, Big N’ Toasted Breakfast Sandwich, Angus Steak & Egg Breakfast Sandwich, Strawberry Banana and Tropical Mango Smoothies, Peach, Caramel, and Mocha flavor shots (unsweetened shots, as opposed to Dunkin’s iconic favor swirls), Some optional muffin, bagel and cream cheese selections, Flatbread.
