1. Members of the House committee investigating the Capitol riot said they have enough evidence for a criminal indictment against Donald Trump for seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Trump’s campaign manager is among the witnesses scheduled to testify at a hearing today.
2. Senators Collins and King back the ‘common sense’ gun safety framework that they say can pass the Senate. Instead of raising the age to purchase long guns and rifles to 21, a key provision would subject gun buyers under 21 to an investigative review period that Collins said would most likely be 10 days.
3. For the first time ever, a gallon of regular gas in Maine now costs over $5 on average. AAA is reporting the state average as $5.08 as of Monday. That’s about a 10-cent jump in a week. Gas prices in Maine are 56 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $2.03 a gallon higher than a year ago.
4. The NHL’s Stanley Cup Final is set. The Tampa Bay Lightning will take on the Colorado Avalanche for a shot at a championship. The Lightning are going for their third straight cup. The best of seven series kicks off on Wednesday night. Colorado has home-ice advantage.
