1. The 18-year-old suspected of opening fire at a Buffalo supermarket Saturday told authorities he was targeting the Black community. The gunman killed 10 people and wounded three others. Eleven of the people who were shot were Black.
2. The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Maine remained stable at 214 but still relatively high on Sunday. Most people in the hospital are either young and not vaccinated or older persons who are vaccinated, the head of Maine CDC, Dr. Nirav Shah, said last week.
3. Saturday’s high temperatures broke records in much of Maine. In Portland, Saturday’s high was 84 degrees. That broke the previous record high of 81 degrees in 1961. Augusta’s high was 92 degrees on Saturday. The normal high is 65. The old record was 87 degrees in 1961.
4. Grant Williams scored 27 points and the Celtics beat the Bucks in Game 7 Sunday to send themselves to the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston will face top-seeded Miami beginning Tuesday in a rematch of the 2020 East finals. The Heat beat the Celtics in six games in that series at Walt Disney World.
