1. 7 Year Old Brock Chadwick from Biddeford had been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer for the last nine months. His mother, Brittney Horton, posted on Facebook that he died early Sunday morning. In October, as he was in and out of chemotherapy and other treatment, Chadwick requested Halloween cards for his favorite holiday, which his family dubbed, “Brocktober.” Almost immediately, cards and packages began arriving from all over the world. 2. Portland wants to turn the aging Portland Ocean Terminal on the Maine State Pier into a public seafood market topped by marine-themed startups and event space. A conceptual plan calls for development of a 6,000-square-foot market on a newly opened up ground floor to serve the 1.5 million ferry and cruise ship passengers that visit the eastern waterfront each year, as well as traditional tourists, island commuters and city residents. 4. L.L. Bean is in the midst of another record-breaking year of sales for its iconic “duck boot,” and the Maine-based retailer says there will be enough boots to meet the holiday crunch. The company projects to sell about 750,000 of them this year, company spokeswoman Carolyn Beem said. That would be 100,000 more than last year, and nearly three times the amount sold in 2012. The company has eliminated most of the backlog for boots and doesn’t anticipate problems with availability. (WMTW)
