1. Thousands of Mainers joined “No Kings” protests across the state this weekend, opposing Trump administration policies they say threaten democracy. Demonstrations in Portland, Augusta, Auburn, and other cities were part of more than 2,600 rallies nationwide. The events remained largely peaceful, with Governor Janet Mills addressing the crowd in Auburn and urging unity to “turn Congress around.” (PH)
2. A group of 29 Mainers visiting the Louvre with the Maine State Music Theatre narrowly avoided a robbery inside the museum Sunday morning. Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark says they were on a nearby staircase when guards and SWAT teams rushed in. (WMTW)

The Louvre remained closed today after thieves pulled off a daring daylight heist, stealing French crown jewels of “inestimable value.” The loot included an emerald-and-diamond necklace Napoleon gave Empress Marie Louise and Empress Eugenie’s 19th-century crown. The thieves smashed antique display cases and escaped on motorcycles in just four minutes — a job officials are calling highly professional. (CBS)
4. Former Maine lawmaker Genevieve McDonald has resigned from Graham Platner’s U.S. Senate campaign after more of his past comments about sexual assault surfaced. McDonald said she couldn’t support the campaign in good conscience. Platner has since apologized in a video, saying he doesn’t agree with what he wrote years ago and asking voters to judge him by the person he is today. (WMTW)
5. The NBA returns this week as the regular season tips off. Fans will also have to get used to watching NBA games on NBC, Peacock, and Prime after TNT lost its broadcast deal. Cooper Flagg makes his NBA debut on Wednesday against San Antonio 9:30pm tip off. The Celtics open their season at home against the 76ers Wednesday 7:30pm tip off. (NBA)
6. McDonald’s is celebrating Halloween with the return of their Boo Buckets tomorrow. The ghost, pumpkin, and goblin Boo Buckets are back with a new look and joined by two new spooky friends, cat and zombie Boo Buckets.The buckets come with Happy Meals and include stickers for some extra Halloween flair.
