1. Gov. Janet Mills has signed three bills aimed at fighting climate change by ushering in renewable energy. The newly Democratic-led Legislature has passed a pile of bills with Republican support in hopes of reducing emissions and creating clean energy jobs. (WGME)
2. Biddeford locals are upset over new parking rules. Six months ago, the city instituted new parking fees and rules, including monthly parking permits for downtown. More than 100 voters have signed a petition about the rules and they got their mayor’s attention. Biddeford Mayor Alan Casavant says feedback from residents is incredibly important, but the city is not violating the referendum on paid parking downtown. (News Center Maine)
3. A massive snake skin was found in Augusta, and the Maine Warden Service has not been able to identify what type of snake it belongs to, but believes there’s no threat to the public. (WGME)
4. Ahead of World UFO Day, a Salt Lake City-based company has declared Maine one of the best states to see a UFO. SatelliteInternet.com married statistics from the National UFO Reporting Center and U.S. Census to find Maine has had 70.23 sightings per 100,000 people. The top five is heavy on states in the northern part of the country: Washington, Montana, Vermont, Alaska, Maine. The National UFO Reporting Center has accounts of 957 UFO reports in Maine.
