1. Maine will invest $230 million in statewide suicide prevention and mental health awareness after a report found that more than 85% of gun deaths in 2020 were suicides. 132 of the 154 people killed by guns in 2020 died by suicide. 118 were men.
2. The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Maine has fallen below 150 for the first time since April. Maine reported a total of 139 hospitalizations Wednesday morning.
3. Beaches in Biddeford may not have lifeguards at all times this summer. The Biddeford Recreation Department says only 10 of its 18 lifeguard positions are filled. Visit www.biddefordmaine.org/apply to submit a resume online.
