1. The United States coronavirus cases top 1.5 million cases. America’s death toll stands at more than 93,000. All 50 states are at least partially reopened, even though at least 17 of them had recorded a clear upward trend of average new daily cases over the prior week. (CNN)
2. No new coronavirus-related deaths and 78 new coronavirus cases were reported in Maine on Wednesday, the death toll stands at 73 and the statewide case number to 1,819 of which 636 are active. Over 1,100 Mainers have recovered from the virus. State health officials said the increase in cases was expected and likely will continue as labs process more tests. (PRESS HERALD)
3. Nearly $200,000 in unemployment benefits have been paid out to Maine DOC inmates who were laid off from work-release jobs due to COVID-19. Gov. Mills has ordered an end to inmate unemployment benefits. (NEWS CENTER)
4. The Maine Red Claws teamed up with TD Bank and Pizza Villa to provide meals to 35 crew members at three Portland fire stations Wednesday. It’s part of the Fueling the Frontline campaign, a win-win for hard-hit, local restaurants and first responders and healthcare workers. Pizza Villa owners suggested giving pizza to Portland firefighters, because their owners and other relatives served as firefighters in Portland. (WGME)
