1. The Trump administration said Wednesday it will ban non-tobacco flavored e-cigarette products. Health officials have linked the products to six deaths and more than 450 hospitalizations in 33 states. A joint investigation by the CDC and FDA suggested that a vitamin E oil in the products may be the contaminant causing the outbreak. (UPI)

2. A judge will hand down a sentence today for the man convicted of killing Somerset County Sheriff’s Corporal Eugene Cole and sparking a four-day manhunt. John Williams will be sentenced at the Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland this afternoon. Williams was found guilty for the murder of Cpl. Cole after a seven-day trial in June. (WGME)

3. Skowhegan High School retired the “Indian” mascot earlier this year, calling it offensive, but now a Skowhegan business is under fire for producing new “Indians” mascot t-shirts and hoodies. Todd Smith owns the business selling the shirts and is also on the Skowhegan School Board. Officials from the Penobscot Nation say the new “Indian Outlaw” design is insulting, and plays off a stereotype that Native Americans are savages. The school hasn’t picked a new mascot yet. (WGME)

4. A new study finds that high-schoolers who don’t date are less depressed than those who do. Non-daters also exhibited better leadership and social skills. The non-daters aren’t loners, but have “friends just like teenagers who are dating,” explained the lead researcher. She added, “It’s okay if you decide to date or decide not to date. Both are acceptable and healthy.” (CNN)
