3. Tropical Storm Jose has strengthened slightly as it sits south of New England. In Maine, the biggest impact will be heavy surf with waves building as high as 10 feet. A high surf advisory is in effect for the coast until 8 a.m. Friday. Dangerous rip currents and beach erosion will be an issue up and down the coastline. Acadia National Park has issued a warning to visitors to keep an eye out for high surf and dangerous waves. (WMTW)
4. Proposed adult-use cannabis regulations from the Legislature’s marijuana committee would allow licensed retail stores to sell pot from drive-up windows and over the internet. Like any other recreational marijuana consumer, drive-up and online customers would have to show identification to the window or delivery employee to prove they are at least 21 years old. The committee’s bill, which sets up the regulatory framework for commercial cannabis cultivation, manufacturing and sales, will be the subject of a public hearing Tuesday.
