1. The Maine House on Tuesday approved a bill that removes religious and philosophical exemptions for school vaccination requirements. The 78-59 vote was mostly along party lines. The bill goes to the Senate for a vote and will face additional votes in both bodies before being sent to Democratic Gov. Janet Mills for consideration. Supporters of the bill said it is overdue and is needed to protect children who have medical conditions and can’t be vaccinated against diseases that could be deadly for them or cause them other life-long health problems. 2. Although there are no schools left in Maine that use Native American imagery as mascots, Maine lawmakers argued over a bill to ban them from public schools and eventually passed the bill by an 88-45 vote on Tuesday. (NewsCenterMaine)

3. The Portland Trail Blazers eliminated the Oklahoma City Thunder from the NBA playoffs 118-115 on Tuesday night, thanks to Damien Lillard’s 37-foot buzzer-beater. “It was a great feeling. When it left my hands, it felt good,” Lillard said after the game. Lillard made the shot after Thunder star Russell Westbrook whiffed a layup with 18 seconds left. Celtics face the bucks in round 2.
