Two days after he said buying Greenland wasn’t a top priority, President Donald Trump canceled an upcoming trip to Denmark, which owns the mostly frozen island, after its prime minister dismissed the idea. 2. A Florida-based developer is suing Portland over the “catastrophic” failure of a development project in the city’s Bayside neighborhood. Federated Cos. filed a 78-page complaint, which names City Manager Jon Jennings as a defendant. The complaint asks for breach-of-contract damages exceeding $75,000, as well as attorneys fees and other costs, but a spokeswoman for the developer told the Portland Press Herald that its actual damages are estimated to be in the “eight figures.” (WGME)
3. Athletes from all over the world will descend on Old Orchard Beach on Sunday for the annual Ironman 70.3 Maine triathlon. The triathlon starts with a 1.2-mile swim in the Atlantic Ocean near The Pier in Old Orchard Beach, followed by a 56-mile bicycle ride that loops through Old Orchard Beach, Saco, Scarborough, Hollis, Waterboro and Buxton; followed by a 13.1-mile run through Old Orchard Beach and on the Eastern Trail. The top 40 finishers will be eligible for a qualifying slot at the 2020 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in New Zealand. (Portland Press Herald)
