1. Former Miami Dolphins coach, Brian Flores, is suing the NFL along with the Dolphins, Denver Broncos and New York Giants. This comes after Flores was fired by the Miami Dolphins last month and experienced alleged discrimination during interview processes with the Broncos and the Giants.
2. Maine lawmakers are considering a bill that would legalize the use of “magic mushrooms” to treat depression and other mental health disorders. Psilocybin is a psychedelic drug, with research supporting its therapeutic benefits. Supporters of the Maine Psilocybin Services Act said it can help treat depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and addiction to other drugs. The bill would legalize the drug’s use only in licensed service centers that are supervised by licensed facilitators.
3. A Messy storm is hitting Maine tomorrow night into Friday morning. The snow won’t be blizzard conditions, but will have the potential to become plowable for a good part of the state. Thursday starts off mostly with rain showers. Snow becomes a strong factor for the Friday morning commute and then wraps up during the afternoon.
4. The sudden hit game Wordle, has been acquired by The New York Times Company. Wordle first appeared as a website in October, and now millions play the game daily by guessing a five-letter word. The New York Times Company said the game would initially remain free to new and existing players.
5. Today is Groundhog Day! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow at 7:25am this morning, meaning there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Spring will not arrive early, according to Phil.
