1. The United States coronavirus cases top 1,369,000. America’s death toll stands at more than 82,000. A top model now forecasts that 147,000 Americans will die by August, as governors continue lifting measures toward a reopening. Dr. Anthony Fauci said reopening early could have serious consequences. (CNN)

2. No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported in Maine on Tuesday. The death toll still stands at 65 with 1,477 cases of which 499 are active. (Press Herald)

3. Portland has put together a proposal to safely re-open restaurants and retail locations for June 1, as allowed by the state. The proposal includes closing six downtown streets to traffic so restaurants can expand outdoor dining and shops can sell goods outside. The proposal will be presented to the city council’s Economic Development Committee on Thursday, and the full council on Monday. (WGME)

4. In an open letter to the governor posted online Tuesday, seven tourism groups said they are working on a plan to reopen and welcome visitors safely, and asked Mills to drop the 14 day quarantine requirement for out of town visitors.

5. National Receptionists Day. Celebrated the second Wednesday in May, this day is set aside to appreciate the many receptionists across the country. If you find yourself calling a business today, make sure you’re polite and pleasant to whoever answers the phone. It is also National Third Shift Workers Day.
