Bowen Yang took part in his final sketch as a cast member on Saturday Night Live over the weekend! He got emotional in his last sketch, where he played a Delta One Lounge employee who was working his last shift. Joining Bowen was host Ariana Grande and musical guest Cher, as well as longtime cast member Kenan Thompson.
Cher played the role of Yang’s boss in the sketch, and Ariana played a member of his family, saying over the phone, “I wish you were home, but I’m so proud of you and all the eggnog you’ve made over the years. Some of it was great, some of it was rotten.”
Yang joined SNL as a writer in 2018, transitioned to cast member in 2019, and achieved repertory status in 2021. His departure marks a mid-season exit, a rare but not unprecedented occurrence in the show’s history. In a pre-show Instagram post, Yang expressed deep appreciation for his experiences and colleagues at SNL, emphasizing personal growth and the value of connection over career achievements.
